An analytical solution to the two-dimensional wave propagation in fluid-saturated half-space subjected to a strip load with vertical harmonic oscillation at the surface is presented. The basic equations have been derived on the basis of Biot's linear theory of poro-elasticity and then solved using Fourier complex transform for the horizontal direction. The importance of a number of soil characteristics including compressibility, degree of saturation and soil permeability has been examined. It is shown that the effect of pore fluid is dominant only for fully saturated soils with incompressible solid grains and low permeability. For partially saturated, compressible or very permeable soils, the stresses would be mainly transferred to solid part and there will be considerable reduction in pore pressure amplitude.  相似文献

A fluid-saturated one-layer continuum underlain by a rigid half-space is considered. An exact solution is developed in frequency domain for analyzing disturbance induced by a strip footing located at the surface with vertical harmonic excitation. Since the analytical solution can be used only for very simple conditions, a finite element model has been developed also and compared with the exact solution. It is shown that finite element results are in close agreement with the results which have been obtained by a transformation technique. The proposed finite element scheme can take into account the complex geometry and inhomogeneity for practical problems. Besides this, the analytical results exhibit the overall characteristic of wave propagation in porous media and will provide a representative test problem which can be used for a quantitative evaluation of the accuracy of various numerical solution methods.  相似文献

In this paper, a systematic investigation into the effect of both the type of impervious members and the reservoir bottom sediment on the dynamic response of embankment dams has been carried out using the finite and infinite element coupled method. It has been demonstrated from the numerical results that: (1) the resonant frequencies of an embankment dam—foundation system with an upstream inclined concrete apron are different from those with a central clay core; (2) the type of impervious members has a significant influence on the amplification factors of the system in the low frequency range of excitation, but has little effect in the high frequency range of excitation; (3) the foundation material of an embankment dam affects the dynamic response of the dam drastically; (4) the inclusion of the reservoir bottom sediment has a considerable effect on amplification factors of embankment dams in the case of P-wave incidences, but has little influence in the case of SV-wave vertical incidences; and (5) the reservoir bottom sediment also has a profound effect on the deformed shape of the embankment dam for both P-wave and SV-wave incidences.  相似文献

Extensive livestock grazing even in unsuitable land has increasingly grown in most parts of semi-arid rangeland. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to identify suitable land for livestock grazing for optimum utilization while causing minimum impact to the environment. This paper adapted the schematic model based on the concepts presented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of suitability analysis for optimal grazing management in semi-arid rangeland in Iran. Factors affecting extensive grazing were determined and incorporated into the model. Semi-arid rangeland with variable such as climate and other agents were examined for common types of animal grazing and the advantages and limitations were elicited. Many ecosystem components affect land suitability for livestock grazing but due to time and funding restrictions, the most important and feasible elements were investigated. Within the model parameters, three submodels including water accessibility source, forage production, and erosion sensitivity were considered. Suitable areas at four levels of suitability were determined using geographic information systems. This suitability modeling approach was adopted due to its simplicity and the minimal time required for transforming and analyzing datasets. The most important reducing factors in model suitability were found to be: (a) land use and vegetation cover (in relation to soil erosion sensitivity), (b) the amount of the available forage in comparison with the total production, and (c) the existence of less palatability plants among the pasture plant species (forage production suitability). The results of the study would be beneficial to rangeland managers in devising measures more wisely to cope with the limitations and enhance the health and productivity of the rangelands.  相似文献
