An experiment on evapotranspiration from citrus trees under irrigation with saline waterwas carried out for 4 months. Two lysimeters planted with a citrus tree in the green house wereused. One lysimeter was irrigated with saline water (NaCl and CaCl2 of 2000 mg/L equivalence,EC = 3.8 dS/m, SAR = 5.9) and the other was irrigated with freshwater using drip irrigation. Theapplied irrigation water was 1.2 times that of the evapotranspiration on the previous day.Evapotranspiration was calculated as the change in lysimeter weight recorded every 30 minutes.The lysimeters were filled with soil with 95.8% sand. The results of the experiment were as follows.(i) The evapotranspiration from citrus tree was reduced after irrigation with saline water. Theevapotranspiration returns to normal after leaching. However it takes months to exhaust the saltfrom the tree. ( ii ) To estimate the impact of irrigation with saline water on the evapotranspirationfrom citrus trees, the reduction coefficient due to salt stress (Ks) was used in this experiment.Evapotranspiration under irrigation with saline water (ETs) can be calculated from evapotranspira-tion under irrigation with freshwater (ET) by the equation ETs = Ks× ET. Ks can be expressed as afunction of ECsw. (iii) The critical soil-water electrical conductivity (ECsw) is 9.5 dS/m, beyondwhich adverse effects on evapotranspiration begin to appear. A field survey of the June 3, 1994 East Java earthquake tsunami was conducted within three weeks, and the distributions of the seismic intensities, tsunami heights, and human and house damages were surveyed. The seismic intensities on the south coasts of Java and Bali Islands were small for an earthquake with magnitudeM 7.6. The earthquake caused no land damage. About 40 minutes after the main shock, a huge tsunami attacked the coasts, several villages in East Java Province were damaged severely, and 223 persons perished. At Pancer Village about 70 percent of the houses were swept away and 121 persons were killed by the tsunami. The relationship between tsunami heights and distances from the source shows that the Hatori's tsunami magnitude wasm=3, which seems to be larger for the earthquake magnitude. But we should not consider this an extraordinary event because it was pointed out byHatori (1994) that the magnitudes of tsunamis in the Indonesia-Philippine region generally exceed 1–2 grade larger than those of other regions. 相似文献

The vertical section of microearthquakes, determined accurately by using the Hokkaido University network, shows two dipping zones (the double seismic zone) 25–30 km apart in the depth range of 80–150 km beneath the middle of Hokkaido in the southwestern side of the Kurile arc. Hypocentral distribution of large earthquakes (mb > 4) based on the ISC (International Seismological Centre) bulletin also shows the double seismic zone beneath the same region. The hypocentral distribution indicates that the frequency of events occurring in the lower zone is four times greater than that in the upper zone. The difference in seismic activity between the two zones beneath Hokkaido is in contrast with the region beneath northeastern Honshu in the northeastern Japan arc.Composite focal mechanisms of microearthquakes and individual mechanisms of large events mainly characterize the down-dip extension for the lower zone as is observed beneath northeastern Honshu. For the upper zone, however, the stress field is rather complex and not necessarily similar to that beneath northeastern Honshu. This may be considered to indicate the influence of slab contortion or transformation in the Hokkaido corner between the Kurile and the northeastern Japan arcs. 相似文献

Cyclic triaxial tests have been carried out on a skeletal carbonate sand from the west coast of Eire. Results are presented for undrained cyclic shear tests on samples with 80% of relative density consolidated under both isotropic and anisotropic conditions. Failure was defined as a 5% double amplitude cyclic strain and a 5% peak axial strain for stress-reversal and non-reversal stress conditions, respectively. Using this definition the cyclic strength for isotropically consolidated samples was affected by the confining pressure although the angular platey nature of the sand resulted in higher cyclic strengths than for a comparable silica sand. For anisotropically consolidated samples the cyclic strength increased with increasing initial static shear stress while on the other hand the cyclic strength normalised in the usual way with respect to the initial confining pressure decreased as this pressure increased. 相似文献

We carried out observations of sea-level fluctuations simultaneously at three stations on the coast of Heda Bay, Honshu, Japan, using supersonic-type water level gauges controlled by a personal computer. Analyses of the obtained data showed predominant spectral peaks at periods of 7.6, 2.0 and 1.3 minutes for all three stations. Comparison of the observed data with numerically calculated normal oscillation modes of the bay indicates that these three spectral peaks correspond to the theoretical first, third and seventh normal modes of the basin respectively, judging from the results of cross-spectral analyses. The reason for the absence of the remaining normal modes, especially of the second or the lateral first mode of the basin, is briefly considered. 相似文献

Relationship between chemical composition of Japanese Island-Arc volcanic rocks and gravimetric data
1670 published chemical analyses from 137 Quaternary eruption centers of Kurile, Japan and Izu—Mariana arcs are collected and K55 and K60 values of individual centers are calculated. Along with the well-established trend of increase of K55 and K60 values across the arc towards the continent, longitudinal change is also recognizable. Interrelation between K55 or K60 value pattern and a map of Bouguer anomaly distribution along the volcanic front is characteristic.To develop one possible simplified model to explain the facts, we assume first that the asthenosphere has a homogeneous thermal state beneath the volcanic zone, second that the thickness of the crust is quite variable areally, and third that the mean density of the crust is constant throughout the area. Thus, the composition of the magma generated along a zone corresponding to equal depths along the Benioff zone should be identical throughout the volcanic arc, and lower values of the Bouguer anomaly should be observed where the crust is thicker. We then assume that magma generated in the asthenosphere ascends into the crust, then cools as fractional crystallization proceeds. Depths of fractional crystallization would be deeper where the crust is thicker. The ratio of the clinopyroxene phase separated from the magma to the plagioclase phase should be larger where the level of fractionation is deeper. Thus, magmatic liquid should be enriched in K where K-poor crystal fractions are subtracted at the deeper level. 相似文献

Near-liquidus phase relations in one-atmosphere dry and water-saturated high pressure conditions were experimentally determined on products of three historic andesitic eruptions. Run conditions ranged from 900 to 1100°C, at pressures up to 1500 bars with fO2 controlled close to the nickel-nickel oxide (NNO) buffer. In order to represent the compositions of the true liquid parts of the erupting magmas, groundmass portions were mechanically separated from the porphyritic andesites. Such groundmass materials should lie exactly on the liquidus field boundary between the phases precipitating from the magma just prior to eruption under the prevailing P-T condition.All the samples showed a crossing of the plagioclase and orthopyroxene liquidi in the pressure-temperature range from 1 to 800 bar and 950–1090°C. The crossing condition approximates the magmatic condition immediately prior to eruption. In the case of the 1970 eruption of Akita-komagatake, the crossing point is at 150 bar and 1090°C, matching closely the observed explosive gas pressure and the temperature. In both cases of the 1783 eruption of Asama and the 1914–1915 eruption of Sakurajima volcanoes, the crossing point shift from higher water pressure and lower temperature for the earlier erupting magmas to lower pressure and higher temperature for the later magmas. This regularity may be explained by a vertical gradient of the temperature and water content within the magma column prior to eruption. 相似文献

A metabasalt dredged at a junction of the median valley with the Atlantis fracture zone (30°01/tN, 42°04/tW) in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge shows complete recrystallization under a metasomatic condition, though the original igneous texture of a coarse-grained basalt is still recognizable. There is strong circumstantial evidence suggesting that this rock is not an ice-rafted erratic, but an authentic Mid-Atlantic Ridge rock. The 40Ar-39Ar age of this sample is 169 m.y. (Jurassic) which should represent the time of recrystallization. The initial value (87Sr/86Sr)O is 0.720, far above the values previously observed in oceanfloor basalts, including both tholeiitic and alkalic rocks (0.701–0.704). Sr with such a high isotopic ratio is considered to have been introduced by metasomatism during metamorphism by a solution coming from a continental mass or masses which were then located very close to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The 40Ar−39Ar age of sample AM50 may approximate the time of the commencement of the opening of the Atlantic. All these data support the possible existence of ancient rock masses in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, as was formerly claimed by Bonatti, Melson and others. 相似文献
