Zusammenfassung Nach einer kurzen Diskussion der theoretischen Grundlagen für die Berechnung der Ausbreitung von schädlichen Beimengungen der Luft auf Grund der Gesetzmäßigkeiten der turbulenten Diffusion wird mit Hilfe der vonPasquill angegebenen empirischen Beziehungen zwischen Streuungsmaßen und Quelldistanz die Formel für die Immissionskonzentration am Boden abgeleitet. An Hand einer Reihe von Beispielen wird das Bodenkonzentrationsfeld relativ zu dem Punkt maximaler Immissionskonzentration berechnet, wobei eine feste Schornsteinhöhe von 40 m und eine für mittlere Emittenten zutreffende Auswurfmenge an schädlichen Gasen vorausgesetzt wird. Die Abbildungen zeigen die starke Modifikation des Konzentrationsfeldes durch die meteorologischen Verhältnisse, je nachdem, ob ein stabiler, indifferenter oder labiler Ausbreitungstyp vorliegt.

Summary After a short discussion of the theoretical background for the calculation of the spreading of the noxious pollutants of the air based on the laws of turbulent diffusion a formula is derived for the concentration of the immisison on the ground with help of the empirical relations between the dispersion measures and the distance from the source given byPasquill. In some examples the concentration field at the ground relative to the point of maximum immission is calculated, considering a fixed height of the funnel of 40 m and a quantity of noxious gases as usually found with average emittents. The figures show a strong modification of the concentration field by the meteorological situation according to whether the spreading type is stable, indifferent or unstable.
Résumé On discute tout d'abord brièvement les fondements théoriques permettant de calculer la propagation des pollutions atmosphériques; pour ce faire, on se base sur les lois de la diffusion turbulente. On en tire ensuite une formule de calcul de la concentration des immissions à l'aide des relations empiriques dePasquill, relations existant entre les quantités répandues et la distance de la source. On calcule au moyen d'une série d'exemples le champ des concentrations au sol par rapport au point de concentration maximum; pour ce faire, on admet und chemineé fixe de 40 mètres de hauteur et une quantité de gaz nocifs correspondant à une moyenne de polluants. Les figures montrent la forte modification que subit la répartition des concentrations selon les conditions météorologiques, en d'autres termes si l'on a affaire à un type de propagation stable, indifférent ou instable.

In autumn 2002 a time-series station was installed in the tidal inlet between the Islands of Langeoog and Spiekeroog (Southern North Sea, NW Germany) to continuously measure physical, chemical, and meteorological parameters, even during extreme weather conditions (gale-force storms, drifting ice). Inside the pole of the station sensor tubes are installed in direction of the prevailing tidal currents. The tubes are equipped with hydrographic sensors (pressure, temperature, conductivity) and allow retrieval of water for nutrient analysis by automated instruments located inside the pole. Dissolved methane and the nutrients ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and silicate are measured at the station. 相似文献

Depth profiles of fluorescence at several excitation and emission wavelengths were measured along with CTD data during the
cruise So119 of RV Sonne in the Arabian Sea from 12 May to 10 June 1997. In addition to chlorophyll fluorescence from phytoplankton in the near-surface
layer, the profiles in the oxygen minimum region well below the euphotic zone show enhanced red fluorescence. Red fluorescence
intensity is inversely related to the oxygen concentration in intermediate and deep waters. A relationship to characteristic
water masses of the region cannot be found in the data, and this holds also with chemical data such as DOC. Absorbance spectra
of water samples taken in the oxygen minimum zone show an absorption band at 420 nm wavelength with about 50 nm bandwidth,
much weaker than gelbstoff absorbance in the same wavelength range. The absorption band remains stable after sample filtration
with 0.45 μm glass fibre filters. Hence, the size of the absorbing matter is in the range of dissolved molecules or particles
much smaller than 1 μm. Fluorescence spectra of unfiltered samples with 420 nm excitation show a weak emission band at 600
nm and a more pronounced one at 660 nm wavelength. The trailing edge of the 660 nm band falls into the range of chlorophyll
emission, thus giving rise to the observed depth profiles of red fluorescence in the oxygen minimum zone. Red fluorescence
measured on samples remain stable during a few hours after sampling even in the presence of oxygen. It is not detectable after
several weeks of sample storage in the dark and cannot be reproduced even after depletion of dissolved oxygen.

Abstract We examine the response of stably stratified airflow to a slab‐symmetric diabatic forcing associated with condensation in long‐lasting precipitation bands. The steady‐state linearized Boussinesq equations are used to model the diagnostic relationship between the vertical motion field, the heating source and the ambient flow. The basic‐state flow is assumed to be horizontally uniform and non‐rotating, but the static stability and wind vary in the vertical. Linear theory shows that the speed of the along‐band wind component is unimportant for slab‐symmetric heating since it cannot contribute towards the advection of buoyancy or vertical motion. For typical atmospheric stratification and a moving heating source associated with a cloud band, the Taylor‐Goldstein equation is solved numerically. The numerical results show that the cross‐band wind shear tilts the updraft core and broadens it. While the magnitude of the shear is increased, the circulation becomes stronger. The details of the wind profile are also important in determining the intensity and structure of the circulation. When the wind profile indicates a convex bulge (i.e. the low‐level shear is weaker than the upper‐level shear), the circulation becomes slightly weaker in comparison with the linear wind profile. Conversely, the circulation becomes stronger when the wind profile has a concave shape. Increasing the concave bulge tends to enhance the circulation but not in a monotonic fashion. This non‐monotonic relation between the vertical motion and the parabolic wind profile is interpreted in terms of kinetic energy changes of parcels that interchange their altitudes. 相似文献

Historical changes in sediments of Pyramid Lake,Nevada, USA: consequences of changes in the water balance of a terminal desert lake 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Sediment cores from the shallow and deep basins of Pyramid Lake, Nevada, revealed variations in composition with depth reflecting changes in lake level, river inflow, and lake productivity. Recent sediments from the period of historical record indicate: (1) CaCO3 and organic content of sediment in the shallow basin decrease at lower lake level, (2) CaCO3 content of deep basin sediments increases when lake level decreases rapidly, and (3) the inorganic P content of sediments increases with decreasing lake volume. Variations in sediment composition also indicate several periods for which productivity in Pyramid Lake may have been elevated over the past 1000 years. Our data provide strong evidence for increased productivity during the first half of the 20th Century, although the typical pattern for cultural eutrophication was not observed. The organic content of sediments also suggests periods of increased productivity in the lake prior to the discovery and development of the region by white settlers. Indeed, a broad peak in organic fractions during the 1800's originates as an increase starting around 1600. However, periods of changing organic content of sediments also correspond to periods when inflow to the lake was probably at extremes (e.g. drought or flood) indicating that fluctuations in river inflow may be an important factor affecting sediment composition in Pyramid Lake. 相似文献

40Ar/39Ar incremental-release analyses were carried out on whole-rock and constituent white mica (illite)-rich size fractions (0.63–1 to 6.3–20 m) within two very-low grade, penetratively cleaved metatuffs of contrasting anchizonal metamorphic grade (northeastern Rheinisches Schiefergebirge, Federal Republic of Germany). One sample from the upper anchizone displays internally concordant 40Ar/39Ar spectra with plateau ages ranging between ca. 316 and 325 Ma. These are similar to conventional K-Ar ages determined for the whole-rock and size fractions. Together the isotopic results suggest that cleavage formed at ca. 320 Ma during a concomitant very-low grade metamorphism. This is consistent with biostratigraphic controls which suggest that metamorphism and cleavage formation occurred during the Westphalian.A metatuff sample from the middle anchizone records more internally discordant 40Ar/39Ar age spectra with total-gas ages ranging from 366 to 372 Ma. These are ca. 35–45 Ma older than corresponding conventional K-Ar ages, indicating marked recoil-loss of 39Ar occurred during irradiation. Transmission electron microscopy reveals that white mica grains within size fractions from the upper anchizone sample have clearly defined, straight edges whereas those within the middle anchizone samples are embayed and diffuse. This results in an increase in surface/volume ratio and therefore greater susceptibility for recoil-loss of 39Ar in the middle anchizone sample. Grain-edge morphology appears to be a major factor in determining the extent of recoil-loss of 39Ar during 40Ar/39Ar analysis of fine-grained size fractions. 相似文献

Zusammenfassung Es werden die Grundlagen einer synoptisch-statistischen Theorie der Druckänderungen entwickelt. Diese beruht im wesentlichen auf folgenden Annahmen: Zwischen zwei um ein bestimmtes Zeitintervall auseinanderliegenden Werten eines meteorologischen Elementes (im vorliegenden Fall der Höhe der 850 mb-Druckfläche) an einem gegebenen Punkt des Feldes besteht eine Korrelation. Die dazu gehörende Regressionsbeziehung kann auf Grund allgemein gültiger Prinzipien abgeleitet werden. Es erübrigt sich in einem solchen Fall, auf die komplizierten, ohne wesentliche Vereinfachungen kaum lösbaren, thermo-hydrodynamischen Gleichungen einzugehen. Die verwendeten allgemeinen Prinzipien sind: Erhaltungstendenz von Druckanomalien (bezogen auf langjährige Normalwerte), Ausgleichstendenz für bestehende räumliche Druckgegensätze, Kompensation oder Gegenläufigkeit bestimmter Abläufe, d. h. ein Mechanismus, der entgegengesetzte Effekte bezüglich eines meteorologischen Elementes in der vertikalen und horizontalen Verteilung verursacht. Es kann gezeigt werden, daß eine entsprechende Regressionsbeziehung aufzustellen ist, die den beiden ersten Prinzipien genügt. Untersuchungen über das dritte Prinzip sind noch nicht abgeschlossen. Die Erhaltungstendenz wurde bereits vonNamias erfolgreich für die Konstruktion von Trendkarten verwendet. Um eine entsprechende Beziehung abzuleiten, die dem Ausgleichsprinzip gerecht wird, wurde eine Korrelation zwischen einem räumlichen und einem zeitlichen Mittelwert mittels einer hinreichend großen Anzahl von Beobachtungen hergeleitet. Auf diese Weise wird es möglich, eine Prognosenformel aufzustellen für eine über einen Zeitraum von 24 Stunden gemittelte Vorhersagekarte. Die praktische Anwendung dieser Formel wird an Hand von 10 Wetterlagen überprüft. Die Korrelationskoeffizienten für die Treffsicherheit der Prognose liegen zwischen 0,86 und 0,98

Summary The idea of a synoptic-statistical theor of pressure variations is outlined. This theory is based upon the assumption that a closs correlation exists between two values of a meteorological quantity (in our special case the height of the 850 mb-contours) separated by a given time interval at a given point and that the appropriate regression line can be obtained with the aid of general principles. Then it is unnecessary to consider the complicated thermo-hydrodynamical equations which can hardly be solved without essential simplifications. The general principles used are: Principle of persistence tendency of pressure anomalies (with regard to long range period normals), principle of equalization tendency of existing pressure differences, principle of compensation i. e. a mechanism which produces contrary effects with regard to the vertical and also horizontal distribution of the meteorological quantity under consideration. It is shown that a relation for regression lines can be found making use of the first and second principle. Investigations concerning the third principle are not yet finished. The persistence tendency has been used successfully byNamias for constructing trend charts. In order to obtain a relation which allows for the effect of equalization of pressure differences a correlation is derived between space and time means using a suffiently large number of observations. By this way it is possible to set up a prognostic formula for a 24 hours mean prebaratic. The practical application of the formula is proved for 10 weather situations. The resulting correlation coefficients for the skill of the forecast range between 0,86 and 0,98.
Résumé L'auteur développe une théorie reposant sur les varations de pression considérées du point de vue synoptique et statistique. Il admet qu'entre deux valeurs consécutives de la hauteur de la surface isobare de 850 mb en un point fixe existe une corrélation dont on peut déduire une relation de régression. Il est inutile dans ce cas de se servir des équations thermo- et hydrodynamiques insolubles sans simplifications importantes. Les principes généraux retenus sont: tendance à la persistance des anomalies de pression (relatives à des moyennes pluriannuelles), tendance à la compensation des différences de pression spatiales, compensation ou opposition de certains processus, c'est à dire un mécanisme qui provoque des effets opposés d'un élément météorologique dans la verticale et dans l'horizontale. Il est possible d'établir une relation de régression satisfaisant les deux premiers principes; les recherches concernant le troisième principe ne sont pas encore achevées. La tendance à la persistance a été déjà utilisée avec succès parNamias pour dresser des cartes d'évolution. Pour obtenir une relation satisfaisant le principe de compensation, on a établi une corrélation entre une moyenne spatiale et une moyenne temporelle à l'aide d'un nombre suffisant d'observations. De la sorte il devient possible d'écrire une formule de prévision pour une carte de prévision relative à un intervalle de 24 heures. On vérifie la formule sur 10 cartes synoptiques. Les coefficients de corrélation pour la probabilité de réussite de la prévision varient entre 0,86 et 0,98.
