Assuming that a disk galaxy is composed of an ambient pervasive gas, small clouds, molecular clouds and stars, its evolution is studied through examining the interchange processes among them. Main results obtained are: (1) The star formation rate is directed by the formation process of molecular clouds. (2) Depending upon the parameters there may be three or four types of evolution of disk galaxies: the no star formation case, the active in the past and inactive at present star formation case, the burst-like star formation case and the very active in star formation case.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan between 30 September–6 October, 1984.  相似文献

We have studied the effects of Compton cooling on cooling flow by performing numerical hydrodynamic calculations of the time evolution of hot gas in clusters of galaxies with luminous quasars. We assumed various temperatures for the hot intracluster gas. We have shown that the Compton cooling resulting from very luminous quasars is effective in inducing cooling flow, before radiative cooling flow is realized. The mass flux resulting from the cooling flow increases with time, as the Compton-cooled region expands. However, the mass flux of the Compton cooling flow is not large, less than 1 M⊙ yr−1 in our model, because the Compton-cooled region is limited to an inner galactic region around a quasar. Even after the quasar active phase has ceased, the cooling flow will continue for at least 109 yr. The accreted mass is enough to explain X-ray absorption lines in high-redshift quasars, if the Compton-cooled gas is compressed by high-pressure intracluster gas.  相似文献

The equation of radiative acoustics is derived by taking into account the effect of a non-transverse magnetic field, and the solutions are schematically represented. The main results shown in Paper I and Paper II are valid even in the presence of a non-transverse magnetic field, and the only difference is that theadiabatic, isothermal, andisentropic speeds of sound and theradiation-acoustic speed in Paper I which respectively correspond to theadiabatic, isothermal, andisentropic magnetoacoustic speeds and theradiation-magnetoacoustic speed in Paper II are replaced by the sets of speeds ofadiabatic, isothermal, isentropic, andradiation-acoustic fast andslow waves, respectively.  相似文献

From the standpoint of view that the early type stars are formed sequentially at an OB association, it is expected that the supernova explosions will also occur sequentially. We study the expansion law of a supernova remnant, which is formed by sequential explosions of supernovae. The superbubbles and supershells with the radii 2001000 pc are naturally explained by this model. Assuming that the sequential explosion of supernovae occurs at every OB association, we deduce the star formation rate in our Galaxy.  相似文献
