We present the results of our modeling of the O I line formation under non-LTE conditions in the atmospheres of FG stars. The statistical equilibrium of O I has been calculated using Barklem’s quantum-mechanical rates of inelastic collisions with hydrogen atoms. We have determined the non-LTE oxygen abundance from atomic O I lines for the Sun and 46 FG stars in a wide metallicity range, ?2.6 < [Fe/H] < 0.2. The application of accurate atomic data has led to an increase in the departures from LTE and a decrease in the oxygen abundance compared to the use of Drawin’s theoretical approximation. The change in the non-LTE abundance from the infrared O I 7771-5 Å triplet lines is 0.11 dex for solar atmospheric parameters and diminishes in absolute value with decreasing metallicity. We have revised the [O/Fe]–[Fe/H] relationship derived by us previously. The change in [O/Fe] is small in the [Fe/H] range from ?1.5 to 0.2. For stars with [Fe/H] < ?1 the [O/Fe] ratio has increased so that [O/Fe] = 0.60 at [Fe/H] = ?0.8 and rises to [O/Fe] = 0.75 at [Fe/H] = ?2.6.  相似文献

The article presents a review of scientific problems and methods of ultraviolet astronomy, focusing on perspective scientific problems (directions) whose solution requires UV space observatories. These include reionization and the history of star formation in the Universe, searches for dark baryonic matter, physical and chemical processes in the interstellar medium and protoplanetary disks, the physics of accretion and outflows in astrophysical objects, from Active Galactic Nuclei to close binary stars, stellar activity (for both low-mass and high-mass stars), and processes occurring in the atmospheres of both planets in the solar system and exoplanets. Technological progress in UV astronomy achieved in recent years is also considered. The well advanced, international, Russian-led Spektr-UV (World Space Observatory—Ultraviolet) project is described in more detail. This project is directed at creating a major space observatory operational in the ultraviolet (115–310 nm). This observatory will provide an effective, and possibly the only, powerful means of observing in this spectral range over the next ten years, and will be an powerful tool for resolving many topical scientific problems.  相似文献

The abundances of 22 heavy elements from Sr to Pb have been determined for the halo star HD 29907 (T eff = 5500 K, log g = 4.64) with [Fe/H] = −1.55 using high-quality VLT/UVES spectra (ESO, Chile). The star has a moderate enhancement of r-process elements (Eu-Tm) with [r/Fe] = 0.63. In the range from Ba to Yb, the derived abundance pattern agrees well with those for strongly r-process enhanced stars (r-II stars with [Eu/Fe] > 1 and [Ba/Eu] < 0), such as CS 22892-052 and CS 31082-001, as well as with the scaled solar r-process curve and the r-process model HEW. Thus, Ba-Yb in HD 29907 originate in the r-process. Just as other moderately r-process enhanced stars studied in the literature, HD 29907 exhibits higher Sr, Y, and Zr abundances than those for r-II stars. These results confirm the assumption by other authors about the existence of an additional Sr-Zr synthesis mechanism in the early Galaxy before the onset of nucleosynthesis in asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars. The same mechanism can be responsible for the enhancement of Mo-Ag in the star being investigated compared to r-II stars. There are no grounds to suggest the presence of s-nuclei of lead in the material of the star being investigated, because its measured abundance ratio log ɛ(Pb/Eu) = 1.20 lies within the range for the comparison stars: from log ɛ(Pb/Eu) = 0.17 (CS 31082-001) to < 1.55 (HE 1219-0312). Thus, even if there was a contribution of AGB stars to the heavy-element enrichment of the interstellar medium at the epoch with [Fe/H] = −1.55, it was small, at the level of the abundance error.  相似文献

The paper examines the statistical equilibrium of Na I in stellar atmospheres with a wide range of parameters: T eff=4000?12500 K, logg=0.0?4.5, and heavy element content [A] from 0.5 to ?4.0. The effect of the “overrecombination” of Na I (i.e., excess relative to the equilibrium number density of Na I) is present over the entire range of parameters considered, and increases with T eff and luminosity. Na I lines are stronger than in the LTE case, so that non-LTE corrections to the sodium abundance, ΔNLTE, are negative. Eight Na I lines commonly employed in abundance analyses are used to construct the dependences of the non-LTE corrections on T eff, logg, and metallicity. The non-LTE corrections are small only for the Na I λλ615.4, 616.0 nm lines in main-sequence stars: |ΔNLTE| ≤0.08 dex. In all other cases, ΔNLTE depends strongly on T eff and logg, and a non-LTE treatment must be applied if the sodium abundance is to be determined with an accuracy no worse than 0.1 dex. The profiles of solar Na I lines are analyzed in order to empirically refine two types of atomic parameters required for the subsequent analysis of the stellar spectra. In the solar atmosphere, inelastic collisions with hydrogen atoms influence the statistical equilibrium of Na I only weakly, and the classical Unsold formula underestimates the van der Waals constant C 6. The empirical correction ΔlogC 6 is from 0.6 to 2 for various Na I lines. The sodium abundance in the solar atmosphere is determined based on line-profile analyses, yielding different results depending on whether the model atmospheres of Kurucz (log?Na=6.20±0.02) or Holweger and Muller (log?Na=6.28±0.03) are applied.  相似文献

A method to analyze the statistical equilibrium of the EuII ion based on a 36-level model atom has been developed. The formation of EuII lines without assuming local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) is considered for T eff=5500–7000 K, logg=4.0, and metallicities [A] from 0 to ?1.5. Non-LTE effects in the level populations are primarily due to radiative pumping of excited states from the ground and low-lying levels, which leads to over-population of upper relative to lower levels. As a result, the studied λ4129 and λ6645 Å lines are weaker than in the LTE case. However, due to the small energy differences between even low-lying EuII levels, collisional coupling is strong, and deviations from LTE in EuII lines are modest: for the Sun, non-LTE corrections to the abundance are only 0.04 dex. The non-LTE effects grow with an increase in the effective temperature and with a decrease in the metallicity, so that non-LTE abundance corrections can reach 0.12 dex for T eff=5500K, logg=4.0, [A]=?1.5 and 0.1 dex for T eff=7000K, logg=4.0, [A]=0. The effect of inaccuracy in the atomic parameters for EuII on the non-LTE calculations is examined. Analysis of the profiles of the solar EuII λ4129 and λ6645 Å lines is used to empirically refine estimates of the efficiency of collisional processes in forbidden transitions in establishing the distribution of EuII ions over excited states.  相似文献

High-resolution spectroscopy and standard LTE analysis of 31 barium and normal red giants (Astron. Astrophys. 283, 1994, p. 937) shows a selective enhancement of Ba (+0.5 dex) in two stars. HR 3845 and HD 130386, relative to the standard star Vir. We do not overinterpret these enhancements due to possible errors in the equivalent widths or in the atmospheric parameters. The non-LTE analysis of BaII in the atmospheres of red (barium) giants shows that the corrections for the non-LTE effects is relatively small, reaching a maximum of –0.16 dex, therefore, the enhancement of barium had apparently another nature.  相似文献

The formation of Zr I and Zr II lines in stellar atmospheres under non-LTE conditions has been considered for the first time. A model zirconium atom has been composed using 148 Zr I levels, 772 Zr II levels, and the ground Zr III state. Non-LTE calculations have been performed for model atmospheres with T eff = 5500 and 6000 K, log g = 2.0 and 4.0, [M/H] = −3, −2, −1, 0. In the entire investigated range of parameters, the Zr I levels are shown to be underpopulated relative to their LTE populations in the line formation region. In contrast, the excited Zr II levels are overpopulated, while the ground state and lower excited levels of Zr II retain their LTE populations. Since the non-LTE effects cause the Zr I and Zr II spectral lines being investigated to weaken, the non-LTE corrections to the abundance derived from Zr I and Zr II lines are positive. For Zr II lines, they increase with decreasing metallicity and surface gravity up to 0.34 dex for the model with T eff = 5500, log g = 2.0, and [M/H] = −2. The non-LTE effects depend weakly on temperature. The non-LTE corrections for Zr I lines reach 0.33 dex for solar-metallicity models. Zr I and Zr II lines in the solar spectrum have been analyzed. The non-LTE zirconium abundances derived from lines in the two ionization stages are shown to agree between themselves within the error limits, while the LTE abundance difference is 0.28 dex. The zirconium abundance in the solar atmosphere (averaged over Zr I and Zr II lines) is log ɛZr,⊙ = 2.63 ± 0.07.  相似文献

A differential analysis of the magnesium abundances in 61 F-K dwarfs and subgiants with metallicities ?2.6<[Fe/H]<+0.2 is performed based on published observational data. Fundamental parameters for 36 stars are determined: T eff from V-K and V-R; logg from HIPPARCOS parallaxes, and [Fe/H] and ξt from Fe II lines. The computations allow for non-LTE effects in the formation of the Mg I lines. For most of the stars, the standard errors in the Mg abundances do not exceed 0.07 dex. The metallicity dependence of [Mg/Fe] is analyzed. Magnesium shows a constant overabundance relative to Fe of 0.46±0.06 dex for metallicities ?2.6<[Fe/H] $\overline {[Mg/Fe]} = + 0.22 dex$ ) compared to the [Mg/Fe] values for other stars with similar [Fe/H].  相似文献

The non-LTE sodium abundance has been determined from the Na I 6154 and 6161 Å lines for 38 thin-disk stars (15 of them are Ba II stars), 15 thick-disk stars, 13 Hercules-stream stars, and 13 stars that cannot be attributed neither to the thick Galactic disk nor to the thin one. The Na I model atom has been constructed using the most accurate present-day atomic data. For the Na I 6154 and 6161 Å lines, the non-LTEabundance corrections are from ?0.06 to ?0.24 dex, depending on the stellar parameters. No differences in [Na/Fe] abundance between the thick and thin disks have been detected; the derived ratios are close to the solar ones. The existence of a [Na/Fe] overabundance in the Ba II stars has been confirmed. The Hercules-stream stars exhibit nearly solar [Na/Fe] ratios. The results obtained can be used to test the sodium nucleosynthesis models.  相似文献

We present our calculations of the spectrum and oscillator strengths for the 4f7?(4f65d+4f66s) Eu III transitions. The calculations were performed with Cowan's RCN-RCG-RCE codes in the single-configuration approximation. A comparison of computed level lifetimes with experimental data for three levels shows that the scale of theoretical oscillator strengths could be overestimated by a factor of 3. The theoretical oscillator strengths of red Eu III lines are two orders of magnitude smaller than their astrophysical oscillator strengths derived by Ryabchikova et al. (1999) from the condition of ionization balance. The new oscillator strengths were tested by analyzing the Eu abundance using Eu II and Eu III lines in the spectra of hot peculiar stars (α2 CVn is a typical representative) and cool peculiar stars (β CrB is a typical representative). First, we computed non-LTE corrections, which proved to be significant for α2 CVn. We also analyzed the Eu II λ6645.11-Å line as well as ultraviolet and optical Eu III lines. We show that the new oscillator strengths together with the non-LTE corrections allow the contradiction between the Eu abundances derived by Ryabchikova et al. (1999) separately from optical Eu II and Eu III lines in α2 CVn to be resolved. The new Eu abundance, log(Eu/N tot)=?6.5, also faithfully describes the blended near-ultraviolet resonance Eu III lines. Using the new Eu III oscillator strengths to analyze the spectrum of the cool Ap star β CrB, we found a significant deviation of the n(Eu II)/n(Eu III) ratio from its equilibrium value. For a chemically homogeneous model atmosphere, to obtain the observed intensity of the Eu III λ 6666.35-Å line, the Eu abundance must be increased by two orders of magnitude compared to that required to describe the Eu II λ 6645.11-Å line. We discuss the possibility of explaining the observed intensities of Eu II and Eu III lines in the spectrum of β CrB by the presence of an inhomogeneous atmosphere with Eu concentrated in its uppermost layers. In such atmospheres, the role of non-LTE effects becomes dominant.  相似文献
