We present the HII region luminosity function and size distribution obtained for the HII regions in NGC 1365. The diameters were corrected for the effects of seeing using a Wiener image restoration procedure. The luminosities and sizes were calculated using the Cepheid distance of 18±2 Mpc, to NGC 1365. We find good correlation between the Hα luminosities and other properties, such as absolute magnitudes and sizes of the HII regions within this galaxy. We find that the HII region luminosity function can be fitted by a power law of slope α=–2.29$plusmn;0.11, which is consistent with what is expected for its Hubble type. Also, the size distribution of the HII regions can be represented by an exponential form. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The present study estimates the net emission of carbon from the forest sector in India. For the reference year (1986), the gross emission from deforestation in that year, plus committed emissions from deforestation in the preceding years, is estimated to be 64 × 106 t of C. The carbon sequestration (or net woody biomass accumulation in trees for long-term storage) from the area brought under tree plantations and the existing forest area under forest succession is estimated to offset the gross carbon emission in India, leading to no net emissions of carbon from the forest sector. Medium-term projections for India (for the year 2011) show that under a business as usual scenario at current rates of afforestation, projected carbon emissions would continue to be balanced by sequestration.  相似文献

基于AHP_熵权法的孟印缅地区洪水灾害风险评估   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:1  
孟印缅三国地处亚热带与热带季风气候区,因自然条件制约,洪涝灾害频繁发生,对“孟中印缅经济走廊”建设将会带来重大影响。开展孟印缅地区的洪水风险评估可为“孟中印缅经济走廊”的建设安全提供必要的信息和科技支撑。利用1980—2016年的降水数据,结合河网、数字高程和土地利用等数据,选取雨季降雨量、暴雨天数、高程、坡度、河网密度、植被覆盖度、土壤可蚀性、人口密度、地均GDP和土地利用10个指标,采用层次分析法和AHP_熵权法对孟印缅地区的洪水灾害风险分布进行了比较研究。研究表明:孟印缅地区高风险区和较高风险区分别占总面积的1.05%和28.76%,高风险区主要分布在印度北部的恒河平原、印度东北部的阿萨姆邦、孟加拉国大部分地区和缅甸南部。受自然、人口和经济条件的制约,孟加拉国是孟印缅三国中洪水风险最高的国家,高风险区和较高风险区分别占总面积的10.61%和65.87%。层次分析法和AHP_熵权法结果间的比较表明,后者比前者识别出更大范围的洪水高风险区。本研究为中国开展周边国家自然灾害的风险评估提供了有效的方法,有助于推进国家孟中印缅经济走廊的建设。  相似文献

The requirements for the production of a near Infra-Red Guide Star Catalog (IRGSC) for Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) observations are identified and presented. A methodology to compute the expected J band magnitude of stellar sources from their optical (g, r, i) magnitudes is developed. The computed and observed J magnitudes of sources in three test fields are compared and the methodology developed is found to be satisfactory for the magnitude range, JVega = 16–22 mag. From this analysis, we found that for the production of final TMT IRGSC (with a limiting magnitude of JVega = 22 mag), we need g, r, i bands optical data which go up to i AB ~ 23 mag. Fine tuning of the methodology developed, such as using Spectral Energy Distribution (SED) template fitting for optimal classification of stars in the fainter end, incorporating spectral libraries in the model, to reduce the scatter, and modification of the existing colour–temperature relation to increase the source density are planned for the subsequent phase of this work.  相似文献

In this study, information is collected on the weather, soils, field management and agricultural statistics in the Bangladesh, India and Myanmar (BIM) region. Crop growth parameters within the EPIC (Environmental Policy Integrated Climate) model are calibrated using cultivar data and regional experimental records of indica hybrid rice Fyou498 and Fengliangyou4 in China. Potential yields of rice are then simulated in the BIM region from 1996 to 2005. The effects of local irrigation and fertilization levels on super hybrid rice yield are examined. The potential yields of Chinese hybrid rice at local irrigation and fertilization levels in 2000 and at full irrigation and rational fertilization levels are found to be 10.22 t/ha and 11.33 t/ha, respectively. The potential for increasing monsoon rice production in the study region is 227.71 million tons. The eastern Indo-Gangetic Plain in India, the southeast coast of India Peninsula and the Ayeyarwady Delta in Myanmar have the largest potentials for monsoon rice production. The northeastern and southwestern areas of the Deccan Plateau and the northwestern region of the Indo-Gangetic Plain need to improve irrigation equipment to meet the water-use requirements of high-yield rice. The central and southern plains in Myanmar and northeastern India need greater access to nitrogen fertilization for high-yield rice.  相似文献

India has 64 Mha under forests, of which 72% are tropical moist deciduous, dry deciduous, and wet evergreen forest. Projected changes in temperature, rainfall, and soil moisture are considered at regional level for India under two scenarios, the first involving greenhouse gas forcing, and the second, sulphate aerosols. Under the former model, a general increase in temperature and rainfall in all regions is indicated. This could potentially result in increased productivity, and shift forest type boundaries along attitudinal and rainfall gradients, with species migrating from lower to higher elevations and the drier forest types being transformed to moister types. The aerosol model, however, indicates a more modest increase in temperature and a decrease in precipitation in central and northern India, which would considerably stress the forests in these regions.Although India seems to have stabilized the area under forest since 1980, anthropogenic stresses such as livestock pressure, biomass demand for fuelwood and timber, and the fragmented nature of forests will all affect forest response to changing climate. Thus, forest area is unlikely to expand even if climatically suitable, and will probably decrease in parts of northeast India due to extensive shifting cultivation and deforestation. A number of general adaptation measures to climate change are listed.  相似文献

A study was carried out to estimate the accuracy of crop discrimination and area inventory for wheat and mustard using IRS LISS-II digital data of two acquisition dates D1 (Dec. 28, 1994) and D2 (Feb. 10, 1995) over a test site (1413 ha) comprising of two villages in Pali district, Rajasthan, The D1 and D2 were optimal acquisitions for mustard and wheat respectively with deviations in aereage estimates of less than five per cent in comparison to field survey. The percent correctly classified pixels ter training site for optimal dates of each crop ranged between 85 and 86 per cent and they were much lower for other dates. These results with lower accuracies than reported earlier for sites with single dominant crop are indicative of accuracies for discrimination and area inventory fot sites having two crops and also sensitivity to acquisition period.  相似文献

The acreage and yield of mustard crop in Rajasthan shows year to year variation. In the present study CAPE, analysis by incorporating digital stratification with current season data and comparison of coefficient variation (CV) at district level using conventional stratification with previous season data was undertaken. The stratification approach using current year’s data for mustard acreage estimation was adopted during 1994-95 and 1995-96 crop seasons and regional CV of less than 2 per cent was attained. A comparison of CV at district level for the years 1994-95 and 1995-96 with those obtained in previous two seasons (1992-93, 1993-94) indicated considerable improvement in precision (lower CV) is 7 out of 11 study districts. Mustard acreage estimate for Bharatpur (1995-96) had CV of 10.1 percent when conventional approach (past year data) for stratification was used. However, with the use of current year data for stratification CV reduced to 4.4 per cent The study suggests that use of in-season data for stratification improves precision for acreage estimation of crops like mustard which has high year to year variation in area.  相似文献
