AbstractTenure security is commonly recognized as an important factor in stimulating long-term investments in land. Recent studies suggest that a distinction between legal, actual and perceived tenure security needs to be made in analyzing tenure security. This study discusses the relationships between legal, actual and perceived land tenure security in rural China, and empirically examines the impact of actual on perceived land tenure security by applying Probit models to household and village survey data collected in four provinces. Using household expectations about the absence of land reallocations within the next five years as the dependent variable, we find that tenure security is positively affected by the possession of land certificates in villages that periodically reallocated land but not in villages that did not do so. The estimated impact is larger for land certificates issued in the new round of land certification than for land certificates that were issued earlier. 相似文献
The 20 km2 Galabre catchment belongs to the French network of critical zone observatories (OZCAR; Gaillardet et al., Vadose Zone Journal, 2018, 17(1), 1–24). It is representative of the sedimentary lithology and meteorological forcing found in Mediterranean and mountainous areas. Due to the presence of highly erodible and sloping badlands on various lithologies, the site was instrumented in 2007 to understand the dynamics of suspended sediments (SS) in such areas. Two meteorological stations including measurements of air temperature, wind speed and direction, air moisture, rainfall intensity, raindrop size and velocity distribution were installed both in the upper and lower part of the catchment. At the catchment outlet, a gauging station records the water level, temperature and turbidity (10 min time-step). Stream water samples are collected automatically to estimate SS concentration-turbidity relationships, allowing quantification of SS fluxes with known uncertainty. The sediment samples are further characterized by measuring their particle size distributions and by applying a low-cost sediment fingerprinting approach using spectrocolorimetric tracers. Thus, the contributions of badlands located on different lithologies to total SS flux are quantified at a high temporal resolution, providing the opportunity to better analyse the links between meteorological forcing variability and watershed hydrosedimentary response. The set of measurements was extended to the dissolved phase in 2017. Both stream water electrical conductivity and major ion concentrations are measured each week and every 3 h during storm events. This extension of measurements to the dissolved phase will allow progress in understanding both the origin of the water during the events and the partitioning between particulate and dissolved fluxes of solutes in the critical zone. Karst aquifers are characterized by a high degree of hydrologic variability and spatial heterogeneity of transport parameters. Tracer tests allow the quantification of these parameters, but conventional point-to-point experiments fail to capture spatiotemporal variations of flow and transport. The goal of this study was to elucidate the spatial distribution of transport parameters in a karst conduit system at different flow conditions. Therefore, six tracer tests were conducted in an active and accessible cave system in Vietnam during dry and wet seasons. Injections and monitoring were done at five sites along the flow system: a swallow hole, two sites inside the cave, and two springs draining the system. Breakthrough curves (BTCs) were modeled with CXTFIT software using the one-dimensional advection-dispersion model and the two-region nonequilibrium model. In order to obtain transport parameters in the individual sections of the system, a multi-pulse injection approach was used, which was realized by using the BTCs from one section as input functions for the next section. Major findings include: (1) In the entire system, mean flow velocities increase from 183 to 1,043 m/h with increasing discharge, while (2) the proportion of immobile fluid regions decrease; (3) the lowest dispersivity was found at intermediate discharge; (4) in the individual cave sections, flow velocities decrease along the flow direction, related to decreasing gradients, while (5) dispersivity is highest in the middle section of the cave. The obtained results provide a valuable basis for the development of an adapted water management strategy for a projected water-supply system. 相似文献
Water suppliers face major challenges such as climate change and population growth. To prepare for the future, detailed knowledge of water resources is needed. In southern Germany, the state water supplier Zweckverband Landeswasserversorgung provides 3 million people with drinking water obtained from a complex karst and alluvial aquifer system and the river Danube. In this study, a combination of different tracing techniques was used with the goal of a multi-scale characterization of the aquifer system and to gain additional knowledge about groundwater flow toward the extraction wells in the Danube Valley. For the small-scale characterization, selected groundwater monitoring wells were examined using single-borehole dilution tests. With these tests, a wide range of flow behavior could be documented, including fast outflow within just a few hours in wells with good connection to the aquifer, but also durations of many weeks in low-permeability formations. Vertical flow, caused by multiple flow horizons or uprising groundwater, was detected in 40% of the tested wells. A regional multi-tracer test with three injections was used to investigate the aquifer on a large scale. For the highly karstified connection between a swallow hole and a spring group, high flow velocities of around 80 m/h could be documented. Exceptionally delayed arrivals, 250 and 307 days after the injection, respectively showing maximum velocities of 0.44 and 0.39 m/h, were observed in an area where low-permeability sediments overlay the karst conduits. With the chosen methods, a distinct heterogeneity caused by the geological setting could be documented on both scales.
Gravity measurements within the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) provide a direct measure of monthly changes
in mass over the Earth’s land masses. As such changes in mass mainly correspond to water storage changes, these measurements
allow to close the continental water balance on large spatial scales and on a monthly time scale within the respective error
bounds. When quantifying uncertainties, positive and negative peaks are detected in GRACE aggregated monthly time series (from
different data providers) that do not correspond to hydrological or hydro-meteorological signals. These peaks must be interpreted
as outliers, which carry the danger of signal degradation. In this paper an algorithm is developed to identify outliers and
replace them with hydrologically plausible values. The algorithm is based on a statistical approach in which hydrological
and hydro-meteorological signals are used to control the algorithm. The procedure of outlier detection is verified by evaluating
catchment based aggregated GRACE monthly signals with ground truth from hydrology and hydro-meteorological signals. The results
show improvement in the correlation of GRACE versus hydrometeorological and hydrological signals in most catchments. Also,
the noise level is significantly reduced over 255 largest catchments. 相似文献
The science requirements on future gravity satellite missions, following from the previous contributions of this issue, are
summarized and visualized in terms of spatial scales, temporal behaviour and accuracy. This summary serves the identification
of four classes of future satellite mission of potential interest: high-altitude monitoring, satellite-to-satellite tracking,
gradiometry, and formation flights. Within each class several variants are defined. The gravity recovery performance of each
of these ideal missions is simulated. Despite some simplifying assumptions, these error simulations result in guidelines as
to which type of mission fulfils which requirements best. 相似文献
Although its use is widespread in several other scientific disciplines, the theory of tensor invariants is only marginally
adopted in gravity field modeling. We aim to close this gap by developing and applying the invariants approach for geopotential
recovery. Gravitational tensor invariants are deduced from products of second-order derivatives of the gravitational potential.
The benefit of the method presented arises from its independence of the gradiometer instrument’s orientation in space. Thus,
we refrain from the classical methods for satellite gravity gradiometry analysis, i.e., in terms of individual gravity gradients,
in favor of the alternative invariants approach. The invariants approach requires a tailored processing strategy. Firstly,
the non-linear functionals with regard to the potential series expansion in spherical harmonics necessitates the linearization
and iterative solution of the resulting least-squares problem. From the computational point of view, efficient linearization
by means of perturbation theory has been adopted. It only requires the computation of reference gravity gradients. Secondly,
the deduced pseudo-observations are composed of all the gravitational tensor elements, all of which require a comparable level
of accuracy. Additionally, implementation of the invariants method for large data sets is a challenging task. We show the
fundamentals of tensor invariants theory adapted to satellite gradiometry. With regard to the GOCE (Gravity field and steady-state
Ocean Circulation Explorer) satellite gradiometry mission, we demonstrate that the iterative parameter estimation process
converges within only two iterations. Additionally, for the GOCE configuration, we show the invariants approach to be insensitive
to the synthesis of unobserved gravity gradients. 相似文献
Representing the spherical harmonic spectrum of a field on the sphere in terms of its amplitude and phase is termed as its polar form. In this study, we look at how the amplitude and phase are affected by linear low-pass filtering. The impact of filtering on amplitude is well understood, but that on phase has not been studied previously. Here, we demonstrate that a certain class of filters only affect the amplitude of the spherical harmonic spectrum and not the phase, but the others affect both the amplitude and phase. Further, we also demonstrate that the filtered phase helps in ascertaining the efficacy of decorrelation filters used in the grace community. 相似文献
