The demise of the high-relief, steep-slope, prograding Ladinian-Early Carnian carbonate platforms of the Esino Limestone (Central Southern Alps of Italy) is marked by subaerial exposure of the platform top associated with different erosional (mainly karst-related), depositional and diagenetic processes (Calcare Rosso). The exposure-related deposits consist of three major facies associations: 1) residual soils with thin lenses of conglomerates with black pebbles, and, locally, weathered vulcanites; 2) chaotic breccia lenses irregularly distributed in the uppermost part of the Esino Limestone carbonate platform, interpreted as collapse breccias in karstic setting: 3) inter-supratidal carbonate cycles with dissolution and development of paleosols and tepee structures.Facies distribution follows the sub-environments of the underlying Esino Limestone. Facies 1 and 2 typically characterize the core of the platform, covering the underlying inner platform facies. Facies 3 instead develops toward the edge of the platform, above reef-upper slope facies of the prograding facies of the Esino Limestone. The thickness of facies 3 decreases toward the core of the platform. Facies distribution reflects differences in the accommodation space and sedimentary processes from the rim (highest accommodation, favouring the deposition of peritidal-supratidal carbonates) to the core (reduced accommodation, causing pedogenesis and karstification) of the carbonate system.The observed thickness changes may be controlled by different factors: 1) syndepositional tectonics, 2) subsidence induced by magmatic activity or 3) differential subsidence controlled by the stratigraphic architecture of the Esino Limestone platform and adjoining basins. As evidence of tectonics was not observed and the presence of volcanic bodies is only documented tens of km away from the study area, the scenario involving the creation of accommodation space by compaction of the basinal sediments (resedimented, fine-grained calciturbidites) during the progradation of the carbonate platform is here investigated. Numerical modelling was performed to verify the compatibility of compaction-induced subsidence with the observed depositional architecture. The models were built to simulate the architectural evolution of the platform by progressively adding layers from deepest to shallowest, while compacting the underlying sediments, in order to evaluate compaction-induced subsidence (and accommodation space for the Calcare Rosso) after the deposition of the youngest platform strata. Modelling results allow us to conclude that the wedge geometry of the Calcare Rosso, deposited on top of the extinct Esino carbonate platform, can be explained by subsidence controlled by compaction of the basinal sediments present below the early-cemented, fast prograding platform slope deposits.  相似文献

常规薄片和扫描电镜分析表明,百色盆地上法地区兰木组石灰岩古岩溶储层具低孔渗特点,主要储集空间为后期改造产生的裂缝和溶蚀孔洞;经历了风化壳岩溶和缝洞渗流岩溶两种成因的两期岩溶作用,纵向上分表生岩溶带、渗流岩溶带和潜流岩溶带三个相带。裂缝以构造裂缝为主,以发育开启—半开启的高角度裂缝为主,低角度裂缝次之。有三种储层类型,其中以裂缝—孔洞型的最好,为主力产层,裂缝—孔隙型的次之,孔隙型的最差。影响古岩溶储层空间发育的主控因素为断裂和构造活动、岩石纯度、后期成岩作用的破坏。  相似文献

As worldwide hydrocarbon exploration has extended from shallowly to deeply buried strata, reservoir quality has attracted substantial and persistent interest in petroleum geology. In particular, deeply buried strata (>5500 m) in the Tarim Basin have attracted considerable attention because carbonate reservoirs that have experienced fracture or dissolution have also been shown to demonstrate considerable hydrocarbon potential. Therefore, it is necessary to determine how these reservoirs are developed and distributed in detail from both scientific and practical standpoints.In this paper, we address this issue using a case study in the southern Tahe area, which is contained within the largest Palaeozoic marine oilfield in China. In the northern Tahe area, mega-paleokarst systems developed in the Ordovician strata; however, the reservoir quality in the southern part of the Tahe area is relatively poor because it is covered by insoluble formations during karstification. Observations of cores and analyses of images of well logging demonstrate that these reservoirs are dominated by caves, vugs and fractures that have developed near faults. We speculate that the faults penetrating insoluble formations represent the main dissolution passages that originally developed these karstic fault systems. Additionally, we analyse a series of outcrops, seismic data, and structures to characterize the spatial geometry of these major faults and their surrounding fractures in detail. Most of these are strike-slip faults, and their subsequent reservoirs can be divided into three categories based on their development, including dendritic, sandwich and slab reservoirs. Recent studies demonstrate that karstic fault reservoirs are most common traps in the study area. Although various types of carbonate karstic fault reservoirs are represented in this region, the dendritic karstic fault reservoir is the most hydrocarbon-rich.Guided by these initial results, 108 wells were drilled from 2013 to 2014, producing 485 thousand tons of oil and yielding success ratios greater than 89%. The average production of dendritic reservoirs is 37.4 tons per day (t/d), while those of sandwich and slab types are 20.2 t/d and 14.0 t/d, respectively. These results represent significant references for future hydrocarbon exploration and the development of similar deeply buried karstic fault reservoirs in the Tarim Basin and elsewhere.  相似文献

This contribution analyses the processes involved in the generation of sinkholes from the study of paleokarst features exposed in four Spanish Tertiary basins. Bedrock strata are subhorizontal evaporites, and in three of the basins they include halite and glauberite in the subsurface. Our studies suggest that formation of dolines in these areas results from a wider range of subsidence processes than those included in the most recently published sinkhole classifications; a new genetic classification of sinkholes applicable to both carbonate and evaporite karst areas is thus proposed. With the exception of solution dolines, it defines the main sinkhole types by use of two terms that refer to the material affected by downward gravitational movements (cover, bedrock or caprock) and the main type of process involved (collapse, suffosion or sagging). Sinkholes that result from the combination of several subsidence processes and affect more than one type of material are described by combinations of the different terms with the dominant material or process followed by the secondary one (e.g. bedrock sagging and collapse sinkhole). The mechanism of collapse includes any brittle gravitational deformation of cover and bedrock material, such as upward stoping of cavities by roof failure, development of well-defined failure planes and rock brecciation. Suffosion is the downward migration of cover deposits through dissolutional conduits accompanied with ductile settling. Sagging is the ductile flexure of sediments caused by differential corrosional lowering of the rockhead or interstratal karstification of the soluble bedrock. The paleokarsts we analysed suggest that the sagging mechanism (not included in previous genetic classifications) plays an important role in the generation of sinkholes in evaporites. Moreover, collapse processes are more significant in extent and rate in areas underlain by evaporites than in carbonate karst, primarily due to the greater solubility of the evaporites and the lower mechanical strength and ductile rheology of gypsum and salt rocks.  相似文献

Hydrocarbons, native sulfur, Mississippi Valley-type (MVT) deposits, and sulfuric acid karst in the Delaware Basin, southeastern New Mexico, and west Texas, USA, are all genetically related through a series of sulfur redox reactions. The relationship began with hydrocarbons in the basin that reacted with sulfate ions from evaporite rock to produce isotopically light ( 34S = -22 to -12) H2S and bioepigenetic limestone (castiles). This light H2S was then oxidized at the redox interface to produce economic native sulfur deposits ( 34S = -15 to +9) in the castiles, paleokarst, and along graben-boundary faults. This isotopically light H2S also migrated from the basin into its margins to accumulate in structural (anticlinal) and stratigraphic (Yates siltstone) traps, where it formed MVT deposits within the zone of reduction ( 34S = -15 to +7). Later in time, in th zone of oxidation, this H2S reacted with oxygenated water to produce sulfuric acid, which dissolved the caves (e.g., Carlsbad Cavern and Lechuguilla Cave, Guadalupe Mountains). Massive gypsum blocks on the floors of the caves ( 34S = -25 to +4) were formed as a result of this reaction. The H2S also produced istopically light cave sulfur ( 34S = -24 to -15), which is now slowly oxidizing to gypsum in the presence of vadose drip water.  相似文献

The paleokarst-unconformity at the top of the Ordovician Yingshan Formation in the central Tarim basin was exposed to air for at least 10 Ma, providing favorable conditions for the later formation of high-quality reservoirs. During the karstification process, the fault system plays an important role in controlling the development of paleokarst. This study characterized the fault system through the paleokarst features on the northern slope of the Tazhong High and examined in detail the impacts of the fault system on paleokarst distribution. Formation Micro-Imager logs and seismic curvature change rate were used for characterizing the fault system in different scales. The results revealed three sets of faults in this region. Cross-cutting relationships, unconformities, and relation between faults and karstification indicate Mid-to-Late Ordovician thrust faults, Silurian-Devonian strike-slip faults, and Permian tension faults. “Bright spots” in seismic records calibrated by Formation Micro-Imager logs were used for indicating paleokarst features and different depth distributions, respectively. Furthermore, the study employed spectral decomposition technique to characterize the morphology of paleocave complexes in detail. The results show the Mid-Late Ordovician thrust faults heavily impacted the distribution of paleokarst mainly distributed along master and secondary thrust faults in shallow areas, as well as along master basement-involved thrust faults in deep strata, and along the most pronounced area of paleokarst, Tazhong No. 10 fault zone bounded by back thrusts. The data provides new forecasting information for deep hydrocarbon exploration in paleokarst-related reservoirs of the Yingshan Formation.  相似文献

轮古东地区主要发育两期断裂,断裂使碳酸盐岩地层形成了以大型溶洞占主导,网状构造裂缝和孔洞相辅的溶洞裂缝储集空间体系。早期断裂主要控制了瘤状灰岩尖灭线西北的潜山高地岩溶,形成深切峡谷式沟壑相连的古地貌,流体溶蚀裂缝形成溶洞为主的储集空间。晚期断裂一方面形成新的储集空间并将早期形成的未充填或半充填的裂缝和溶蚀孔洞沟通; 另一方面,为大气淡水进入下部岩层提供了通道,形成在奥陶系下部地层发育的水平潜流带和深部缓流带岩溶体系。此外,火山热液沿两期断裂进入碳酸盐岩地层,对通道附近的碳酸盐岩产生显著的溶蚀,主导了深部的岩溶作用。  相似文献

本文通过对湘南经向构造带北段的遥感地质解译,发现了具有环形影象特征的古盆、古盆盆缘及其附近爆花点状影象的古岩溶,并阐述了它们在空间分布上与铀矿化有着较为密切的关系。文章在分析该区经向构造紧密褶断带和新华夏系构造强烈活动的基础上,强调了构造体系的复合。从而展示了古盆、古岩溶空间分布上的构造有利部位。华南多数大、中型铀矿床、在空间分布上显示了与NNE向中、新生代断拗红盆有着某种内在联系,作者就断拗红盆对铀成矿的机理进行了探索。并提出在该区一定的标高和距断拗红盆的一定范围内为理想的找矿区域。  相似文献
