The northern edge of the Central Rif (Morocco) is subject to numerous landslides where mechanisms do not correspond to the classical models used by geomechanics specialists. It is necessary to adopt a multidisciplinary approach that combines geomorphology, geology, hydrogeology, and geotechnics in order to understand how such slope failures are generated, especially in a region with a heterogeneous structure characterised by significant lithological differences, severe fracturing, and thrust sheets where tectonic contacts play a major role in groundwater circulation. This report shows that these failures are essentially controlled by the tectonic contact separating the Tisirene and Chouamat thrust sheets and by subsurface hydrodynamic conditions. A model of spatial and temporal variations in the factor of safety is proposed.  相似文献

Neogene volcanism in the Eastern Rif (Morocco) comprises a series of calc-alkaline, potassic calc-alkaline, shoshonitic and alkaline volcanic rocks. According to new stratigraphical, along with new and previous chronological and geochemical data, the orogenic volcanism was successively (1) calc-alkaline (basaltic andesites and andesites: 13.1 to 12.5 Ma, rhyolites: 9.8 Ma), (2) K-calc-alkaline (basaltic andesitic to rhyolitic lavas and granodiorites: 9.0 to 6.6 Ma), and (3) shoshonitic (absarokites, shoshonites, latites, trachytes: 7.0 to 5.4 Ma). The later Pliocene volcanism was basaltic and alkaline (5.6 to 1.5 Ma). The calc-alkaline and K-calc-alkaline series exhibit lower K2O (0.7–5.3 wt.%), Nb (8–19 ppm) contents and higher 87Sr/86Sr (0.70773–0.71016) than the shoshonitic series (K2O: 2.4–7.2 wt.%, Nb: 21–38 ppm, 87Sr/86Sr: 0.70404–0.70778). Pliocene alkaline basalts have a sodic tendency (Na2O/K2O: 1.7–3.5), high Nb content (up to 52 ppm), and low 87Sr/86Sr ratio (0.70360–0.70413). The variations through time of K2O, Nb and Sr isotopic ratio reflect different mantle sources: (i) calc-alkaline, potassic calc-alkaline and shoshonitic series are derived from a mantle source modified by older subduction, (ii) alkaline basalts are derived mainly from an enriched mantle source. Through time, incompatible elements such as Nb increased while 87Sr/86Sr decreased, suggesting a decreasing influence of metasomatized mantle (inherited subduction). Such evolution is related to the post-collision regimes operating in this area, and could be linked to the succession of extensional, compressional and strike-slip fault tectonics.  相似文献

The southern side of Gibraltar and the Western Alboran Sea of the northern Rif coasts and rivers provide a natural field laboratory for sampling modern sand at different scales: small catchment basins (first order) and rivers draining mountain belts (second order). The Rifian chain represents a deformed and uplifted thrust-belt and related forelands composed of Palaeozoic nappes, metamorphic and plutonic basement, and their sedimentary Mesozoic and Cenozoic siliciclastic and carbonate cover, respectively. The present physiography of the Rif Chain is shaped by a rugged mountainous relief drained by different scale catchment basins that supply the nearby coastal and marine deep-sea environments. The analysis of the composition of modern fluvial and beach sands is useful for the interpretation of transported sediments by surface processes from the continent toward coasts and later to deep-water environments.Modern beach and fluvial sands of the southern side of Gibraltar and the Western Alboran Sea display three distinct petrologic littoral provinces, from the east to the west and from the north to the south, respectively, designated as: (i) the Tangier–Bel Younech Littoral Province with 90% of sand derived from erosion of Flysch Nappes (Flysch Basin Domain); (ii) the Bel Younech–Sebta Littoral Province with 64% of sand fed mainly by the metamorphic Units of Upper Sebtides and (iii) the Sebta–Ras Mazari Littoral Province with 74% of sand supplied from the epimetamorphic Palaeozoic Ghomaride Nappes and Alpine cover rather than Mesozoic and Cenozoic sedimentary successions of the “Dorsale Calcaire” Units. Comparison of detrital modes of fluvial and coastal marine environments highlights their dispersal pathways and drainage patterns of actualistic sand petrofacies.  相似文献

Résumén

Un résumé de la cinématique du Rif externe central et occidental, de la période de rifting aux événements tectoniques récents, est proposé. L’évolution du Rif externe est abordée sur le plan quantitatif par le biais des principaux mécanismes physiques qui ont pu affecter cette partie de la marge nord-africaine durant le Jurassique, le Crétacé et le Paléocène (processus de dilatation thermique lors du rifting et de contraction thermique lors du refroidissement de la lithosphère, effondrement par flexure de la marge nord-africaine lors de la collision). Les géométries et densités obtenues sont comparées avec les données gravimétriques et de sismique réfraction.

Un des aspects du modèle de Wernicke (1985), la dissymétrie du rifting de la marge africaine, semble se vérifier par l’analyse et à la modélisation de la subsidence. Mais celle-ci montre l’existence d’une fusion adiabatique tardive du manteau supérieur dont le modèle de cisaillement simple ne tient pas compte. Le soulèvement de la marge à la fin du rifting ne serait pas dû uniquement à une dilatation thermique car les données de terrain montrent des discordances angulaires importantes sur la marge africaine. Ce soulèvement est attribué localement à la poussée des rides médio-océaniques naissantes de l’Atlantique et du sillon transformant nord-africain.

La modélisation de la subsidence tectonique permet d’expliquer l’absence d’intumescence sous le Rif. Elle est attribuée aux taux d’amincissement crustaux élevés durant les phases d’extension triasico-jurassiques. Cette approche quantitative confirme l’existence d’un bassin intra-continental avorté au sud-ouest et d’une marge continentale sensu stricto au nord-est. Si l’océanisation paraît plus tardive dans la partie rifaine du sillon transformant nord-africain (Callovien) que dans l’Atlantique Central (Bajocien), la subsidence post-rift ne se distingue pas de celle d’une marge passive classique.  相似文献

— The aim of this study is to conduct a probabilistic seismic hazard analysis for the eastern Rif area in northern Morocco. The source zones were established on the basis of the seismicity database, the fracturing analysis deduced from Landsat7 ETM digital enhancement and marine seismic reflection profiles. By the use of this information together with the selected attenuation relationship, the peak ground acceleration contour maps are produced for specific return periods. The map has been divided into intervals of 0.1 degrees in both latitude and longitude to calculate the values at each grid point and draw the seismic hazard curves. The results of seismic hazard assessment are displayed as iso-acceleration contours expected to be exceeded during typical economic life times of structures.  相似文献

Forbes ogives show alternations of dark (ice + mineral dust) and light bands at the surface of certain glaciers. We propose to understand their origin by the influence of the content of mineral matter on the lowering of the temperature and pressure of ice fusion and upon the increase of fusion velocity. We are then in an unstable situation: a local increase in the mineral content being induced by the fusion process, which in turn increases; this creates a dark band. The movement of the glacier cannot keep up with the fusion: pressure is lowered again below the fusion point, and a white band is formed. To cite this article: B. Guy et al., C. R. Two climate simulations of 150 years, performed with a coupled ocean/sea-ice/atmosphere model including stratospheric ozone, respectively with and without heterogeneous chemistry, simulate the tropospheric warming associated with an increase of the greenhouse effect of carbon dioxide and other trace gases since 1950 and their impact on sea–ice extent, as well as the stratospheric cooling and its impact on ozone concentration. The scenario with heterogeneous chemistry reproduces the formation of the ozone hole over the South Pole from the 1970s and its deepening until the present time, and shows that the ozone hole should progressively fill during the coming decades. Asymmetric relationships in allochthonous units on both sides of the Strait of Gilbraltar (Spain-Morocco) are analyzed by the graphical technique of Gower (1977). The spatial patterns in the rock distributions of these units are shown to be homologous, thus supporting the hypothesis that both sequences derive from the same tectonic episodes.  相似文献

Résumé

Après la mise en place des nappes dans le Rif, des bassins intramontagneux se sont créés et ont subi des déformations depuis le Miocène supérieur jusqu’au Quaternaire. L’analyse microtectonique de la fracluration, et les marqueurs de tectonique synsédimentaire (tailles synsédimentaires, discordances progressives, talus de progradation) montrent que ces bassins ont été soumis à un régime tectonique compressif depuis le Tortonien. La direction de la contramte maximale compressive a changé au cours du temps depuis la direction N040 au Tortono-Messinien jusqu’à la direction N000-140 au Plio-quaternaire. L’évolution sédimentaire et tectonique de ces bassins est à mettre en relation avec l’avancée vers l’WSW du bloc d’Alboran et son blocage entre l’Europe et l’Afrique.  相似文献
