3D city models, which are important items of content on the virtual globe, are characterized by complicated structures and large amounts of data. These factors make the visualization of 3D city models highly dependent upon the performance of computer hardware. Thus, achieving the efficient rendering of 3D city models using different hardware performance levels represents one of the key problems currently facing researchers. This paper proposes a time-critical adaptive visualization method that first estimates the possible rendering time for each model according to the data structure of the model in addition to the CPU/GPU performance of the computer. It then dynamically adjusts the rendering level for each model based on the results of an estimation of the rendering time to ensure that the final scene can be completed within a given time. To verify the effectiveness and flexibility of this method, it is applied using different computers. The results show that the adaptive visualization method presented in this paper not only can adapt to computers with different levels of performances but also demonstrates an obvious improvement in the time estimation precision, visual effects, and optimization speed relative to existing adaptive visualization methods.  相似文献

根据“比较科学学”的对比研究方法,对1975—1976年全球地震和中国地震活动,与最近两年全球地震活动作了对比,并分析了1900—1990年全球范围和中国大陆地震活动的特点。 据资料分析,全球性地震活动随时间分布具有高潮期和低潮期。最强烈活动期为1940—1950年左右,Ms≥7级地震年频次为25—40次;相对活动最低潮期为1980—1988年,Ms≥7级地震年颁次只有5—12次。我国境内地震活动也有高潮和低潮活动期,目前,我国大陆处于一个新的地震活动高潮期。 1980—1988年是全球性8级地震较少时段,可能是地震能量积累过程。1990年全球地震活动的突然增强,仅半年时间内发生12次Ms≥7级地震,其中菲律宾发生8级地震,震情与1975—1976年情况相类似。 本文在对比活动图象基础上,估计了全球和中国大陆今后几年中的强震活动趋势。  相似文献

In recent months there has been an explosion of interest in using the Web to create, assemble, and disseminate geographic information provided voluntarily by individuals. Sites such as Wikimapia and OpenStreetMap are empowering citizens to create a global patchwork of geographic information, while Google Earth and other virtual globes are encouraging volunteers to develop interesting applications using their own data. I review this phenomenon, and examine associated issues: what drives people to do this, how accurate are the results, will they threaten individual privacy, and how can they augment more conventional sources? I compare this new phenomenon to more traditional citizen science and the role of the amateur in geographic observation.  相似文献

Abstract

</p>Gamepads and joysticks have the potential to improve spatial navigation in virtual globes, block diagrams and 2D maps. Digital school atlases, in particular, can become more engaging if support for gamepads and joysticks is added, as children and adolescents are very proficient at using these devices. The fusion of gaming devices and interactive school atlases offers interesting new use cases: teachers can control a digital wall map with a remote-control gamepad while lecturing from the front of the classroom, or students can explore maps on their personal computers using an enticing way to interact. This paper presents these use cases, the characteristics of the most common gaming devices, and discusses spatial navigation with gamepads and joysticks for globes, block diagrams and 2D maps. The ideas presented originated from the ongoing development of a new, interactive version of the Swiss World Atlas for schools.  <a
