| Abstract: | Average chemical compositions have been worked out of various rock types in the Ordovician-Tertiary strata based on field observations, chemical analyses, trace element determinations and semiquantitative spectrophotographic measurements on 144 samples. Discussion is given to the evolutionary regulations of various chemical elements as well as to the sedimentary environment during the geological history in this region. A diagram of trace element distribution in sedimentary rocks is also presented. Judged from the assemblage of chemical elements and rock association the authors hold that the strata in southern Xizang represent typical platform sediments along the north margin of the Indian plate in a relatively stable environment. |
