THE NATURE OF FLUID INCLUSIONS IN QUARTZ CRYSTALS FROM THE GOLD-BEARING QUARTZ VIENS AND OREFORMING TEMPERATURE AT LINGLONG GOLD MINE,ZHAOYUAN COUNTY,SHANDONG PROVINCE

Abstract:The gold-bearing quartz viens in the Linglong gold mine were formed in three different ore-forming stages in terms of their mineral assemblages: (1) early quartz-pyrite stage in which the quartz,sericite and pyrite were formed;(2) quartz-gold-metallic sulfide stage,in which the quartz,pyrite,chalcopyrite,galenite,sphalerite,bornite,cosalite,kroebrite,native gold,electrum and a small amount of sericite were formed;(3) carbonate stage,in which calcite,siderite and a small amount of quartz were formed.The writer studied the fluid inclusions in the quartz crystals formed in stage (1) as well as in stage (2) and recognized the following types of inclusion:1)Two-phase inclusion that is made up of liquid solution and vapor (see photographs 3,5).2)Polyphase inclusion that is made up of liquid solution,liquid CO2,vapor and solids (fibrous daughter crystals of unknown mineral (see photograph 6).The fluid inclusions in the quartz formed in stage (1) are homogenized at critical point,and their homogenization temperature ranges from 360°to 480℃.However,the inclusions in the quartz formed in stage (2) are homogenized to liquid and their homogenization temperature ranges from 120° to 360℃.Decrepitation temperature of the inclusions in the pyrite ranges from 255°to 320℃ and that of the inclusions in the sphalerite ranges from 190°to 205℃.Hence,the writer supposes that the ore-forming medium in the quartz-pyrite stage was a high temperature fluid under critical (or supercritical) condition,and that the ore-forming medium in the quartz-gold-metallic sulfide stage was a low temperature thermal solution.Pressure under which the mineral was formed is 420 bar.The release of red-brown NO2 from the inclusions during their decrepitation (see photograph 4) shows that the ore-bearing fluid contains nitrate or nitrite.Hence we think that the gold exists and was transported as HAuCl4 into the ore-bearing fluid.
