| Abstract: | The arab oil producing countries have characteristics of both less developed and more developed countries. They are diversifying their economies and entering into shipping. There are arguments for and against some participation in shipping, but industrialisation generates shipping requirements. These are being met on a Pan Arab basis and by joint ventures with traditional maritime nations. |
