| Abstract: | This study proposes as a working hypothesis that small white-light flares accompany all major (proton) flare events and suggests a new method for systematically finding these  patches of white-light emission. The new technique consists of the time-wise application of the photographic cancellation method to detect small time-varying features around the time of the impulsive phase of a flare. |
