Abstract:On the basis of the proposed approximate linear relation between the square of ocean depth and the gravity anomaly caused by the mass deficiency of the ocean water,the submarine topography of South China Sea was inversed by using the gridded gravity anomaly values from satellite altimetry data,and combing earth gravity field model EGM96 and ocean depth model ETOPE2.The inversion results are compared with the ship data and ETOPO2 model,it is shown that the accuracy and resolution are significantly improved as compared to the ETOPO2 model.
