| 摘 要： | 西部地区地域辽阔，居住形式多样化，差异明显，城市中人口和资源集聚，对西部地区的进一步加快发展至关重要。从这一层面上讲，城市和区域的发展模式和经济转型的步骤和方向高度相关，城市作为经济增长，技术创新和文化发展的中心是地区发展的增长极，文章详尽阐述了西部地区现有的发展模式，未来的增长模式，尤其是重点城市在西部大开发中所担当的角色，以及城镇的发展是如何和基础设施的发展以及暂时性移民的涌入发生相互影响的。

| Abstract: | The western region characterized by its vastness of space and diversity of settlement forms would depend on cities in concentrating people and resources for more speedy development. In this respect, the urban and regional pattern of development is highly related to the pace and direction of economic transformation. Cities as centres of economic growth, technical innovation and cultural production are growth poles of regional development. This chapter examines the existing pattern, future plans of growth, particularly the role of key cities in contributing to developing the west. How the growth of cities and towns is related to infrastructure development and inflow of temporary migrants? |
