| Abstract: | The longest cold snap since 1981, as well as snowy weather, which began in December 2009 across Europe like Britain, continued into January 2010. On 27 February 2010, a strong Atlantic cyclonic depression named Xynthia tore northeastward across coastal western Europe with hurricane force winds and heavy rains.
