Abstract: | It started with the usual fire fountains and lava flows that are typical of Iceland's basaltic fissure eruptions, quickly turned into one of the country's major tourist attractions, and when they thought it was all over, the first eruption of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in 200 years suddenly brought Europe's air traffic to a halt. |
