| Abstract: | The major part of northern Hunan Province is the Dongting Lake area. Owing to the similarity in the natural conditions and the link of the human activities, a unique economic region--Round-Dongting Lake economic area is formed. Because Changde City is a part of the economic region, the strategy of the integration must be performed in its socio-economic development considering its special location, the social economic position and the prospect of the economic development in economic area around the lake. Some suggestions are made for integration: take ecological protection as the foundation of resources exploitation, put the stress on water control and management, implement point-axis development pattern with optimized structure and defined function, push the development forward stage by stage with measures suited to local conditions and key points standing out, etc. |
