Stress-strain relation of asphalt-concrete in condition of elasto-plastic coupling

Abstract:Results of triaxial test indicates that, due to low porosity, asphalt concrete used in hydraulic engineering has obvious lateral effect and smaller volumetric deformation, and takes on shear-swell characteristics. It is hard to reflect the special stress-strain relationship of asphalt concrete through existing nonlinear models or elastoplastic models. Considering that asphalt concrete does not complying with associated flow rule and Drucker postulation and the elastic coefficient is changed with the plastic deformation. The author suggests a double-yield surface model with elasto-plastic coupling; and it is satisfied with the result of indoor triaxial test.
