| Abstract: | The paper described a kind of possible coprolites from lowest Cambrian (equivalent to Tommotian stage) strata, Tian-Zhu-Shan member of Dengying Formation of Yangtze Gorge. These fossils are small in size (length about 1mm), conically or intestinally convoluted and irregularly curved in. structure, grey in colour, and smooth in surface. The original constitution of these fossils is unknown, but now they are made up of phosphate. This coprolite evidently derived from a coelomate. Therefore, it is suggested that convoluted-form coprolite has appeared in ancient strata beside ellipsoid-form coprolite. This fact is of not only paleontological, but also sedimentological significance. |
