摘    要:无论脊椎动物或无脊椎动物的粪化石在新生代沉积中均是常见的,其中椭圆形的粪球粒构成了碳酸盐沉积的重要组分。尹赞勋在更老的地层中曾记述过。

Abstract:The paper described a kind of possible coprolites from lowest Cambrian (equivalent to Tommotian stage) strata, Tian-Zhu-Shan member of Dengying Formation of Yangtze Gorge. These fossils are small in size (length about 1mm), conically or intestinally convoluted and irregularly curved in. structure, grey in colour, and smooth in surface. The original constitution of these fossils is unknown, but now they are made up of phosphate. This coprolite evidently derived from a coelomate. Therefore, it is suggested that convoluted-form coprolite has appeared in ancient strata beside ellipsoid-form coprolite. This fact is of not only paleontological, but also sedimentological significance.
