| Abstract: | In the paper, the author reviews the problem of reservoir siltation in Australia. The issue was ignored too long and it is only recently that researchers and engineers have acknowledged the matter. First a review of fully silted reservoirs is developed. The siltation records are compared with overseas sedimentation data and discussed. The study indicates that extreme siltation rates were observed in Australia. The magnitude of the data is similar to overseas extreme sedimentation records. The causes of reservoir failures are discussed. |
