Abstract:A numerical model is used to simulate the thermal regimes of subsea permafrost under the influence of coastal retreat and the presence of the Arctic Ocean, Western Canadian Arctic. The result shows: 1) Subsea permafrost is widespread in the continental shelf, Western Canadian Arctic; 2) The recovery of ground thermal regimes of submerged permafrost is a long process, and certain relict permafrost exists beneath the sea bed; 3) Most significant increase in temperature occurs in the upper layer of the submerged permafrost; 4) Subsea permafrost is of high temperature which has considerable implications for the construction of the offshore oil / gas pipeline.
