| Abstract: | There have been numerous studies on diatoms in the Taiwan Strait,but most of which were confined in certain season or area.The purpose of this paper is to identify more fully species composition and distribution patterns of diatom during 4 seasons of a year in the whole westren Taiwan Strait where depth is more than.20 m at each station.The phytoplankton collections were obtained during 4 cruises(once a season) from May,1984 to February,1985 by a vertical haul from the bottom to the surface using a 0.064 mm mesh net,the stations in 12 transections were divided into 3 zones(see Fig.l). |
