| Abstract: | According to the sediment types of core obtained from Legs 861-881 of the "HY 4", the paper discussed the relationship between the formations of some authigenic minerals (phillipsite, montmorillonite, barite, micronodules, non-crystalline SiO2) and sediment types.
Phillipsite and montmorillonite have been formed from volcanic materials by seawater solution, so these minerals have a close relation with palagic clay.
Micronodules widely spread in the surface sediments. The author considers them as one of the authigenic ferromanganese minerals and barite as authigenic mineral. Its formation is related to siliceous bioclasts. |
