Abstract: | Two simple approximating equations are given for the calculation of the upper particle size of floatability under the turbulent hydrodynamic conditions in a flotation machine (apparatus). They comprise solid density ?p, fluid density ?fl, surface tension σ, contact angle θ and a parameter depending on energy dissipation, the vortex acceleration, which we call “machine acceleration” . Some diagrams are shown for practical purposes. A dimensionless characteristic number analogous to the bond number is introduced in order to characterize the stability of aggregates. |
