摘    要:简要介绍美国地球物理协会2001秋季年会“非线性地球物理”分会的活动情况。它可以大致反映出目前非线性理论和非线性地球物理的发展现状和趋势,尤其是在分形,多维分形,尺度独立性,混沌和自组织临界理论方面的研究。

Abstract:The current progress of non linear geophysics can be somewhat reflected in the recent international conferences on the non linear theory including the "non linear geophysics" session during the American Geophysical Union annual meeting held at San Francisco, USA, December 10-14, 2001. Since 1994 the AGU has been organizing the non linear geophysics during its annual meetings. The past one might be the more active and largest one. The next meeting will be jointly organized with the European Geophysical Union. The International Mathematical Geology Association has been holding the sessions on "fractals, multifractal and non linear dynamics" during its annual meeting since 1996. Fractals. Multifractals, self organized criticality, complex theory and chaos have been the main focuses and these theories have been playing important roles in fertilizing the non linear geophysics. This short note will report the activities involved in the non linear group during the AGU 2001 fall meeting.
