Summary By means of six geologic sections through the basin of Klagenfurt the similarities of the rock sequences and the possibilities of biostratigraphic dating are discussed. In spite of the lack of fossils parts of the epizonal metamorphic rocks of the Klagenfurter Becken and the southern Saualpe can be correlated with non-metamorphic early-paleozoic rocks of the Karawanken and Krappfeld dated by conodonts. In this regard a basic (geosynclinal) and acidic to intermediate magmatism of silurian age are important. Since early-paleozoic series of a different stage of metamorphism follow one upon another, a variscean (hercynian) folding and overthrusting has to be assumed.

Résumé A l'aide de 6 profiles nous allons discuter la succession et la biostratigraphie du paléozoique inférieur. Il est possible de faire une corrélation entre le cristallin épizonal du bassin de Klagenfurt et de celui de la Saualpe avec le paléozoique inférieur des Karawanken et de celui du Krappfeld dont l'âge est déterminé par des conodonts. Dans cette corrélation le magmatisme basique (géosynclinal) et acide-intermédiaire du Silurien joue aussi un rôle important. Quant à la tectonique il faut compter avec des nappes de charriage d'âge hercynien (varisque).
