摘    要:1ChineselakesanddistributioncharacteristicsChina is a country abundant in lakes. According to statistic data, there are 2,759 natural lakes with over 1.0 km2 each and their total area is equal to 91,019.6 km2. Among these lakes there are 656 lakes with over 10.0 km2 each, whose total area is 85,256.9 km2, 139 lakes over 100.0 km2 each, whose total area reaches 68,264.5 km2, 14 lakes over 1 000.0 km2 each, whose total area reaches 34,618.4 km2. Abstract:China is a country abundant in lakes. Lake science development in China, not only aims at the international frontiers of correlative subject development, but also focuses on the national strategic needs in different ages. This paper describes the general situation and distribution characteristics of Chinese lakes, systematically reviews development process of Chinese lake science and its progress in lake physics, lake chemistry, lake biology, lake sediment and lake-watershed management, finally looks forward to the developing tendency of Chinese lake science in future.
