湛江组沉积相特征

摘    要:<正> 1955年,李树勋将广东湛江一套灰白色砂砾与灰白色粉砂质粘土互层的地层称为“湛江系”,时代是晚第三纪至第四纪;1964年,广东茂名石油公司地质处称之为“湛江群”,时代为中新世至早更新世;同年,中国科学院南海海洋研究所定为“湛江组”,时代为早更新世。由于湛江组的岩性和沉积相特征区域差异较大,露头多未见底,上覆下伏地层多为松散物,加之各家所掌握的实测资料及研究程度不同,30多年来对湛江组的沉积相问题仍众说纷坛,例如广东省地质局(1972)认为湛江组的沉积相为海积、冲积;南海海洋

Sedimentary facies of the Zhanjiang Formation .
Abstract:The Zhanjiang Formation covers the Leizhou Peninsula, the northern, southern and western coast of Hainan Island, Guangdong Province, as well as Beihai, Guangxi Province.Because of the great regional differences in the lithologic character, no final conclusion of the sedimentary facies of this formation has yet been reached.The solution to this facies problem has significance in the studies of environmental evolution in South China.During 1984-1986, the authors conducted an investigation on the Quaternary geology of these area.The facies problem was one of the problems emphasized in the research.According to the comparison of 1300 borehole records in the study area, and the comprehensive analyses of the samples from 28 boreholes and outcrops by means of chronostratigraphy (datings of K-Ar, TL, pale-omagnetism) and sedimentology (analyses of grain size, trace-element, mineral, surface textures of quartz sand, sporo-pollen, fossil diatom, forarninifera), the authors obtained the following conclusions.1.The Zhanjiang Formation was deposited in the late stage of the Early Pleistocene (Q12,1,600,000-700,000 yrs.B.P.).2.During that period, there were tectonic subsidences of local crusts.As a result, many fining-upward rhythms were formed.3.The Zhanjiang Formation is the only marine-facies stratum along the coast of the South China Sea, which developed in Q12 as a result of tectono-eustatism.4.Within Q12 the relief of the Leizhou Peninsula was low in the middle-southern part (the subsidence center) and became higher northward and southward.So the thickness as the formation becomes thinner, the grain size becomes coarser, and the sediments of shallow sea, seashore, estuary and river facies appear in sequence northward and southward from the subsidence center.Moreover, the sediments of river and estuary facies cover more area than the others.
