Minimum age at sexual maturation of a female south-east Atlantic bottlenose dolphin Tursiops truncatus |

| Abstract: | The age of a 316 cm female bottlenose dophin Tursiops truncatus from the South-Eastern Atlantic Ocean was determined to be 8,5 years from etched tooth sections and SEM techniques. Examination of the ovaries showed she had ovulated twice. At the time of her death, she had a 2-year-old calf, and her probable minimum age at first conception was calculated as 5,5 years. |
