Abstract:For further using in the GIS application based on database,a new idea was proposed to build a relational database storing spatial data as much as those in the MapInfo digital map and to make some research on spatial data with independence on commercial GIS components for secondary development.Focusing on the linear objects which describe roads in the digital map,a database for roads was built with the road node as its storage cell and the road direction as auxiliary information.Then the problem of recognizing road segments around the target can easily be solved by searching road nodes which satisfied the querying conditions in the database.The arithmetic was divided into three steps of querying work in T-SQL.Firstly,candidate road segments were collected which were contained by a square area around the target.Then the best matched road segment in each of four directions was selected according to the road direction.Finally a comprehensive distribution of roads was described into text corresponding to those selected road segments.The experimental data shows that this arithmetic is capable of recognizing the road distribution around a target with higher accuracy,costing less processing time and lower system resources.
