Abstract:The abundance evolution of oxygen in the local galactic disk is discussed. The age-metallicity relation of nearby stars is confronted with predictions from simple evolution models where infall of primordial gas and outflow of disk gas and dust are allowed. Gas infall and expulsion of dust grains have considerable effects on the age-metallicity relation. Dust outflow may be important in order to solve the discrepancy between the observed rate of infall of primordial gas and rates predicted by simple evolution models.
