| Abstract: | The data on the distribution of the radiolarian species Cycladophora davisiana in the present-day ocean and its Quaternary sediments are summarized. The distribution of this species is influenced by the
formation of the cold ventilated intermediate water mass enriched in suspended organic matter. The maximal abundance of the
species is recorded above the continental slopes. The long-term Quaternary variations in the relative abundance of C. davisiana are inconsistent with the cyclic glacial-interglacial fluctuations and are of limited significance for the regional stratigraphy. |
