Abstract:In the summer of 2019, surface tintinnid community were investigated along a transect (122-145°E) across the Kuroshio Current from Yellow Sea, East China Sea to west Pacific. The differences between surface tintinnid community in Kuroshio Current and adjacent ocean bodies were studied. According to the hydrological environment and the spatial location of each station, we divided the research area into the ocean margin area, the Kuroshio area and the ocean area. Tintinnid abundance ranged from 3.95 to 131.94 ind/L at each station. Species richness ranged from 6 to 24. Totally 42 species in 21 genera were identified. There were 7 dominant species: Protorhabdonella curta, Eutintinnus stramentus, E. lusus-undae, Ascampbelliella armilla, E. tubulosus, Helicostomella longa and Steenstrupiella steenstrupii. Protorhabdonella curta was the most dominant species and was detected at every station. According to the abundance distribution pattern of each species, 33 common species were divided into 4 groups. Group I distributed widely and had the highest abundance. Group II mainly appeared in the middle of the transect and was greatly affected by Kuroshio, among which Dadayiella ganymedes could be the indicator species of Kuroshio. Group III mainly distributed in oceanic areas, while Group IV mainly distributed in marginal areas with low abundance. Tintinnid community of the Kuroshio area had different species from the other two areas, and the species richness was the highest. The results help to understand the effect of Kuroshio on the geographical distribution of plankton.
