| Abstract: | The development of researches on the physics of the earthquake foci since the founding of the People's Eepublic of China is briefly surveyed. The paper consists of three parts: （1） field observations of phenomena related to the focal processes and their interpretations; （2） theoretic studies of the earthquake foci; （3） experimental studies of the physical phenomena associted with rock fracture. |
