| Abstract: | Summary Drawing on the analysis of the linearized vorticity equation it was proved that a moving cyclonal vortex is capable of initiating the development of a new cyclonal vortex in a baroclinic frontal region, characterized by a reduced vertical stability. A necessary condition for this development is the simultaneous presence of convergence in the friction layer. |
