| Abstract: | :
The design and study on the legends of thematic maps is a key link for compiling thematic maps. In view of the practical usage of compiling the thematic maps in this pa per, the general concept, design principles and the methods of legend systems are inve stigated. Based on the systematic enqineering, in this paper, the basic structures and ch aracteristics of legend systems are discussed. Finally, the general characteristics and me thods of legend design to the different legends of synthetic, analytical and compositive types, and the possibility of computer aided legend disign are introduced. |
