Abstract:There are parthenogenetic and bisexual reproductive patterns in Anemia and both of the patterns comprise ovoviviparity and oviparity mechanisms.There also exist diploids,triploids,tetraploids,pentaploids,hexaploids,heptaploids,octoploids and a lot of aneuploids in the parthenogenetic population.Therefore,the brine shrimp Anemia is an advantageous material for genetic research.Further studies on Anemia genetics will not only provide evidence for theoretical problems such as Anemia origin,evolution,ploidy,and the relationship between parthenogenetic and bisexual Anemia,but also bring about a great advance both in the cultivation of new Anemia strains and in the aquaculture of fishes and crustaceans.
