Abstract:Limitations of conventional satellite altimetry are summarized.The principles of four new altimetry techniques including Ka-band altimetry,constellation technology,GNSS altimetry and wide-swath altimetry are introduced.The advantages and disadvantages of these new techniques are analyzed.The implementation of these techniques will complement the conventional altimetry,and greatly extend the applications of satellite altimetry.
