| 摘 要： | 万维网地理信息系统（WebGIS）是地理信息系统（GIS）发展的必然趋势，但在图像传输和保存方面还有很多尚等解决的问题。分形方法在图像压缩方面有很强优势，利用分形方法对地图图像进行压缩以减少数据量，在WebGIS上具有非常广阔的应用前景。

| Abstract: | WebGIS technique,the inevitable trend of GIS,has yet many problems to solved in the trans-mission and storage of images.The method of Fractal has very distinct advantage on image compression based on the fact that most of the map images have the characteristic of selt-similarity,which means it can be used in WebGIS to improve the effciency of image transmission and storage.This paper presents some discussions and suggestions on the application of Fractal in WebGIS. |
