| Abstract: | Mercury concentrations were determined in marine algae and three species of gastropod molluscs collected from three sites on the Mediterranean shoreline of Israel. The results are discussed in relation to local pollution variations. Mercury concentrations were highest in the vicinity of an industrialized area. It was concluded that local industrial pollution directly affected the area studied. However, little is known of the overall effects of toxic wastes, and further study is required. |
