Abstract:In this paper, the basic equation of overland flow over a steep slope has been derived based on physical laws applicable to both gentle and steep hillslopes. The Kinetic Wave Model is used by considering the velocity to be proportional to the depth of overland flow. An approximate solution to the overland flow in the rising stage has been obtained for the case of steady rainfall intensity. It is further used as the base of research on erosion over hillslope and on the mechanism of soil conservation for forested land.
