| Abstract: | The reasonable estimation of the dislocation subgrain size of olivine is the key problem for the correct calculation of the flow stress in the deformed process of the upper mantle. Six statistical test methods are used for test of the lognormal distribution form in six sample data of the subgrain size of olivine which are collected from the mantle xenoliths in the Damaping region, Hebei Province. It is validated that all these six samples follow the lognormal distribution. Based on this, the reason why in this case the geometrical average is the reasonable estimator for the subgrain size parameter is discussed, and more reasonable estimation-the interval estimation is given. |
