Abstract: | This note urges great caution in the uncritical adoption of any 'standard method' in geographical research. Morrison's (Exploratory Data Analysis or EDA) strategy is reminiscent of the technique-driven studies of the 1960s in geography that were heavily criticised within a decade (Morrison 1985, 1983). A case is presented which demonstrates that early reliance on EDA is a risky venture if the objective is an explanatory one. |
