Abstract: | Very high concentrations of copper lead, zinc, and to a lesser extent mercury, are present in the estuary of the Rio Tinto in South-West Spain. At the mouth of the estuary, the concentrations of these metals fall very sharply towards the natural levels of these metals in organisms living in this part of the Atlantic. |
