Abstract:Water quality monitoring data not only reflect the temporal-spatial variations of groundwater quality,but also provide important information about water-bearing media, circulation depth,flow velocity and genetic composition of groundwater. In this paper,three aspects of the importance of water-quality monitoring in identifying hydrodynamic conditions of groundwater are discussed:(1)in conceptual modelling and water resource evaluation,the hydrochemical criteria for the identification of mixing processes and their importance for water resource evaluation; (2)in pumping test,the role of water quality monitoring in the determination of hydrogeological parameters and safe yield;(3)in groundwater extraction period,the application of water quality monitoring data to the identification of the change of the genetic composition and hydrochemical properties of groundwater,in order to provide scientific basis for water resource evaluation.
