| Abstract: | By comprehensively studying the deposits and paleontology,especially foraminifera,dinoflagellates,calcareous nannofossils,serpulidae burrow,and algal stromatolith,the authors conclude that four phases of transgressions happened from Late Cretaceous to Early Tertiary in eastern China;In chronological order,they respectively correspond to Senomanian ,late Turonian to early Senonian,Paleocene to Early Eocene,Late Eocene to Early Oligocene, The transitional brackish deposits formed in over ten basins under theeffects of the four phases of transgressions and bore typical brackish fossil assemblages.Based on the analysis of water level eustasy in Songliao Basin,Subei-South Yellow SeaBasin,Bohai Gulf subsidence area,and Jianghan Basin,the authors find that the waterlevel eustasy in these areas basically coincided with the global sea level eustasy. Besides,in this paper,the authors also discussed the paleogeographiy of the above areas. This re-search on transgression may act as a guidance to the research of sequence stratigraphy and hydrocarbon exploration in the Mesozoic-Cenozoic sedimentary basins of eastern China. |
