Abstract:This article addresses the methodology and techniques of simulation of sediment transport in physical model dealing with sedimentation problems arising in the fluctuating backwater region of the Three Gorges Reservoir. A specially designated model study has beencarried out to testify the methodology by using field data of an existing reservoir. Fluvialprocesses can be reproduced exactly in the same manner as what was observed inprototype. So the methodology and techniques o physical medelling in sediment studies ofthe Three Gorges Project are justified to be reliable.
