Abstract: | The use of diary techniques in social surveys has been discouraged because of the difficulties which have often been associated with their implementation and the analysis of the results. This paper argues that given the use of proper safeguards, diary techniques may be employed to provide high quality data for behavioural analysis, particularly in rural studies. This view is supported by an examination of two case studies where a diary technique was successfully used. |
